Do I need a hunting Virginia Hunting License for hunt at Horseshoe Farm?
Yes, in order to hunt at Horseshoe Farm Hunting Preserve a license is required. All Virginia resident are reguired to complete the Hunter Education class online to obtain their Virginia Resident Hunting License. All non-residents are required to have the Non-Resident Shooting Preserve License. These license can be purchased from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
How long does the Hunter Education Class online take?
Per the course site, Typically it takes about 4 to 6 hours to go through the online course, excluding quizzes and/or exams and restudying that you may choose to do
If I am tagging along with someone hunting do I have to have a license too?
You do not have to have a hunting license but we require that you have obtain an Apprentice Hunter License. The apprentice hunter must be accompanied and directly supervised by a hunter possessing a valid Virginia hunting license who is an adult over 18. For more information
Do I need a hunting license for skeet shooting?
No
Are reservations required?
Yes, in order to provide the best hunting experience possible, we require prior reservations.
Do you sell ammunition?
No, we do not.
For upland hunting, do I have to hunt with a guide and/or can I bring my own dog?
Yes, for upland hunting we require that you hunt with a guide and may bring your own dog. We do have trained dogs that will also assist us on the hunt so we ask that your personal animals are obedient and knowledgeable in upland hunting.
Do you have any sleeping accommodations on site?
Yes, we have a barn that is included in a 2 day 1 night booking.
What about a Bed and Breakfast closeby?
There is a lovely Bed and Breakfast less than 2 miles down the road that we recommend guest to. Sunny View
